Osbourne hints the fuel duty planned for next month may be scrapped.

  •  The price of petrol has increased dramatically over the last few weeks.
  • George Osborne, the Chancellor has hinted that duty may be frozen.
  • Chancellor George Osborne told the BBC's The Andrew Marr Show that he was "looking very carefully" at freezing the duty in Wednesday's Budget.
  • Petrol is at a record high.
  • The average price of petrol a litre now is £1.30.
  • The increase in price is due to the rise in oil prices.
  • The oil price increase is due to concern about supply because of all the uprising and unrest in Libya and the Middle East.
  • All the unrest in these countries continues expert say both petrol and diesel will continue to rise.
  • Increased pressure is being put on the Government by motoring organisations such as the  RAC, they want the government to scrap the plan to increase fuel by 1p a litre from April.
  • VAT was increased in January from 17.5% to 20%
  • The budget will also contain include strategies to help youth unemployment.
  • Help for teenagers to gain access to apprenticeships and vocational education will be available.
  • Unemployment for 18-24 year olds is at a record high of 18.3%
